Hello hello!
For this weeks blogpost I don't have much to report. I went ahead and finished the blocked out layout for the team last week. I also worked on Barthalamew's fur sim a little bit. When I originally made Barthalamew's fur sim I put it on a version of him that didn't have a mouthbag and I used the closed mouth version of him as well. This put some spanners in the works because for starts I needed to save the fur sim out as a preset then export it back into the proper model. Our uvs were also updated on him and so the masks that I had made for clumping, noise, and density were off so I had to redo them. Luckily the masks were the only problem I had which it did not take long to redo since I had already known how to do them from the first time. Everything came over seamlessly and he is now up and running with the proper uvs, masks, and mouthbag!
During the process I learned a few things about fur sims:
1. Make sure you have the proper scale for your character (if it's too small your fur simulation will look big and clunky)
2. Uvs need to be set in stone before creating the masks. Otherwise you will need to redo them.
3. Have a lot of patience!
Other than that, I am starting on texturing this week while I wait for the rigged version of Barthalamew to be finished and then my groupmate and I will add him to the rig and test him out! I believe I'm going to start on the wall and ceiling textures for our set as a first prop!
Until next blog post~
